Welcome to my studio - I love to share it and enjoy answering questions about my process, commissions, gifts, and of course, the journey.
It is lightness; it is dark. Green exclaims, "There is new life!" while the gray rain also falls on the brown and gold plants dying by the side of the road. Regardless, people continue their tireless efforts to make a life in this remote land. Nature and people provide these dramatic scenes across the North American Continent, calling the artist to transform the blank white stare of the canvas into a loving gaze. Acknowledgements: If I am any good at this, it is by the grace of God and the people He has placed in my life. I am also thankful for the loving support of my friends and family. My husband supports every crazy idea I've ever had and makes me think I can do anything. When I was 10, Sharon Michael asked me to draw a bear. After I did, she framed it and hung it up. I'll never forget how encouraging that was. My first patron is my sister Jennifer, who bought a painting I did when we were teenagers. Appropriate for the period, it was in pastel colors; a semi-abstract of a young woman looking out from behind a tree at a waterfall. My second patron is my friend Jenna. She has two of my paintings, but more importantly has helped me work though the barriers which hobble an artist from time-to-time. My friend Stephanie is also a big supporter, nudging me at just the right times with the right amount of nudge. I am thankful for my art teacher in grade school. Mr. Jandacek taught us about perspective, color, shading, proportions, vanishing points - his is the only formal training I've had and though it has been years, his direction I can still hear and his lessons continue to make their way into my art. He always said, "Busy hands are happy hands."
